Pushing Your Limits - How Being Disabled Can Be A Blessing

David Wetherill | TEDxTruro

David explains how being born with a disability is a great opportunity to achieve something massive in life and has pushed him to extend the boundaries of his physical and mental capabilities. Without this, the tough times would have been a lot harder.

Pushing your limits and the psychology of disability and sport. Disability doesn’t define you but your perception and mentality does. Being disabled should not be thought of as a negative. It can be a blessing.

David is a three time Paralympian and international table tennis player. He was born with Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia, a bone condition that affects the growing ends of bones, and Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect which was repaired via open heart surgery as a baby.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
